BA Hub is a free platform. To keep improving it we use a small amount of privacy-friendly analytics — but only if you say yes. We never show ads, and we never sell your data.
The short version
- We use essential cookies to make the site work (these are always on).
- We use analytics to see how the platform is used — only after you click “Accept” on the cookie banner.
- The analytics data isn’t linked to your name or email. It’s tied to a random tag stored in your browser, and we never record what you type, draw or write in the tools (apart from questions you ask Billie, with emails and phone numbers removed).
- If you create an account we collect your email address, and if you download a resource we ask for your name — used only for those purposes, kept separate from the analytics.
- No advertising. No selling or sharing your data with third parties for marketing.
- You can change your mind any time using the button at the bottom of this page.
What we collect (and why)
Because BA Hub is free, this analytics is how we learn what’s genuinely useful, what to fix, and what to build next. When you accept, we record events such as:
What is Billie?
Billie is BA Hub’s AI assistant, on every page. She answers business analysis questions and guides you as you work. When Billie uses AI to answer, your question and a little context about the page you’re on are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, as explained in our privacy policy. Anthropic never uses them to train its AI. For this usage report we log which questions she’s asked (with any emails and phone numbers stripped out first) so we can spot gaps and improve her answers.
| What | Why we look at it |
|---|---|
| Pages and tools opened, time on page, scroll depth | To see what people actually use and where they drop off |
| The answers you pick in the scorecard (the options you click, never anything you type) | To understand who BA Hub is helping and shape the platform around them |
| Features you use in HubFlow, HubSketch and HubNote, such as loading a template or exporting, and how many shapes, stickies or note pages you add | To see which tools help and where people get lost |
| The choices you click in the simulations, the tools you open from them, and whether you finish | To improve the simulations and see where people stop |
| Questions asked to Billie, our AI assistant, the page you asked on, and whether she could answer | To learn what people need help with and fix gaps in her answers |
| The topic and “I’m a” option you pick on the contact form (never your name, email or message) | To see what people get in touch about |
| JavaScript errors & “storage full” events | To find and fix things that are broken |
| Rage clicks and blocked form submits | To find where people get stuck or frustrated |
| A random browser tag, persona, plan, discipline, device and screen size | To link your visits together without identifying you by name |
What we never collect
Your name and email are never sent to analytics, so the usage data above isn’t linked to who you are. (We do collect your email for your account and your name for resource downloads, as described below, but that is kept separate.) The text of your Billie questions is scrubbed of any email addresses and phone numbers before it’s recorded. We don’t track you across other websites, and there are no advertising or social-media tracking cookies.
Your account & resource downloads
A couple of things on BA Hub need real details. These are kept completely separate from the analytics above and are used only for the purpose you gave them for:
| What | When | Why we use it |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | When you create an account | To set up and secure your account, sign you in, and save your progress |
| Your name | When you download a resource | To personalise the resource and provide it to you |
We don’t add you to marketing emails without asking you first, we don’t sell or share these details, and they are never passed to the analytics. They’re stored securely in our account system, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
Cookies & storage we use
| Name | Type | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| bahub_consent | Essential | Remembers your cookie choice (a small cookie, kept 12 months) |
| bahub_auth / app state | Essential | Keeps you signed in and saves your work in your browser |
| bahub_visitor_id | Analytics | A random tag so we can link your visits together. Only set if you accept |
| bahub_session | Analytics | Groups the pages from one visit together. Cleared when you close the browser. Only if you accept |
| bahub_evt_queue | Analytics | Temporarily holds events in your browser before sending — only if you accept |
Most of these are stored in your browser’s local storage rather than traditional cookies, but we treat them the same way for your privacy.
Our lawful basis
Essential cookies are used under our legitimate interest in providing a working website. Analytics cookies are used only with your consent, as required by the UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR. Rejecting analytics will never stop the platform working.
Where you give us your email (to create an account) or your name (to download a resource), we process it because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for. If we ever want to send you marketing, we’ll ask for your separate consent first.
How long we keep it
Analytics events are kept for up to 180 days and then automatically deleted. Your saved work stays in your own browser (and your account, if you have one) until you remove it.
Your account email and any name you give for a download are kept while your account is active, and deleted when you close your account or ask us to remove them.
Your choices & rights
You can accept or reject analytics at any time using the button below. Under UK GDPR you also have the right to ask what data we hold and to request its deletion. For anything privacy-related, use our support page.
